All: Today was Kim's last visit with Matthew and he did well and they all said bye to Kim. Matthew went to get his new glasses and did not want to wear them. We let him just deal with it until he came to a accept he that he was not going to get them back. They took a nap and he seemed to be ok with the new glasses after that. I am not sure Kristen likes the glasses yet on him. The kids and us got a visitor, the vision teacher from the school came today. We tried roast with them again and they did not eat it, but what is new with that. Cooking really is pointless when they will not try anything. I forgot to say about Nicholas and his eating of cookies yesterday. Nicholas ate half a bag of Iced Animal Crackers. He had a belly that looked pregnant. It was really funny. Surprising he did not get sick.

All: We had a very busy day today. We got the kids up and dressed and then anxiously awaited our guests for a play date. I’d been trying to tell the kids the night before that we were having another set of quadruplets over to play with them but I don’t think they got it. I’ve been talking to the mom of this set of quadruplets for a while and this is the first time we have gotten together. I’ve been waiting a long time to do this because she has the reverse of what we have. She has 3 girls and 1 boy. They are about 3 months younger than our kids. At first it took some warming up. Each of the respective sibling groups stuck together. I’m sure they were thinking strength in numbers. I know Avery was very excited to see 3 girls to play with. I think she was the first one to break the ice on our side. They played inside for awhile while we waited for it to warm up and the sun to come out. We had a quick lunch which everyone did so well with. I was very impressed that the kids all ate so well together and all sat at the same table. Then we went outside to play with more toys and sidewalk chalk. It turned out to be such a nice day. The kids got along so well. I was worried that my kids might be more aggressive since these were all their toys but they did pretty well letting everyone take turns with the toys. At one point Michael said he saw one of the girls grab Andrew’s hand and off they ran to check out another part of the yard. He said it was adorable. It was fun just sitting there talking and watching all the kids batteries wear down. When it was time to leave my boys weren’t all that interested in exchanging hugs but Avery was definitely up for it. It was so cute because Avery and their boy hugged and didn’t let go of each other. I think Avery was just excited that she finally met a boy that hadn’t stolen anything from her or had been mean to her so she was holding on to him for dear life. It was SO incredibly cute. The other family left and the kids were starting to wind down and it was getting too late in the afternoon to let them take a nap so we kept them up. Avery tried to sleep on the couch and actually managed a 5 minute catnap before we caught her drooling on the couch. We ended up doing things out of order the rest of the day. We quickly threw them in the bathtub to wake them all up and get dinner started. We ate dinner and tried to get them to settle down but they played for a bit before we turned on one of their favorite shows. After it was over we sent the kids to bed MUCH earlier than we ever have and they dropped. I don’t even think they were awake another 5-10 minutes. I went up to check on them to find that they were even too tired to take their pajamas off. I’m hoping that this means we might get a long nap tomorrow because they definitely had a ton of fun today and played their hearts out. After talking, we can not wait to do this again. It was actually less stress on us to have 8 kids. Wow, did I just say that.

All: Nicholas did amazing today and dressed himself with no help. This is great and it really helps out. We are going to take the kids to the grocery store and we are getting things ready to go and it gets real quiet. We see them all sitting on the floor eating M-n-M's. They emptied a 2 pound bag on the floor and proceeded to eat most of it. So, we clean them up and get them loaded in the car and head to the store. We really hate people at times. I appreciate we are spectacle, but seriously have we all lost self restraint? The following are what we are tired of hearing. 'Are they Twins?' 'Glad it is you and not me' 'Is it easy' 'Wow that has to be a lot of work' these are just a few, but trust me that it would shock you what people say. We finally get going and try and get groceries, but people feel so inclined to ask us questions and not let us shop. We do our best to ignore them, but this has to be told. We are walking and turning the corner on an aisle and this lady is gawking so badly she walks into the shelves and sends can goods everywhere. Kristen and I made it maybe 1 aisle before we started laughing. The kids did ok. The sacker was an idiot he put the groceries in 2 baskets and then looks at us with stroller in tow and asks do you need help? Thankfully we know the manager and she helped us out. I have to question if people have just gone insane. Tomorrow will be a riot. We have the Martin Quads coming over to play.

All: We have ECI today and spent most of yesterday cooking and putting up meals. It is really difficult to cook with 4 kids. We really could use a sitter or help on those days. We got a few meals put up in the freezer so we can try out new item on the kids. We are going to play with an interactive video game today, if daddy can get it hooked up. The kids love the guitar from guitar hero. Nicholas has decided that the trash bags we put under the booster seats should not be there and has removed them all. He can be really helpful at times. Andrew is enjoying coloring today. Avery loves Maggie beast. Matthew is working on a secret project. I think it is a new venture to drive us nuts but we will see. They are starting to enjoy Sesame Street and it is a nice change. Yesterday, The kids really tired to see just how many time outs and smacks they could get in a day and Matthew and Andrew were running and went head to head. Matthew has a nice bruise on his head. Andrew is unaffected. He has a harder head. ha-ha.

All: We have been playing outside as much as we can before it starts raining again. The kids are full of energy and testing everything. I fixed the graphics issue at the top with the bee. Kristen is working on the 3 year video. Avery climbed to the top of the stairs on the outside of the stairs. Kristen almost had a heart attack. We are getting so many funny statements out of them.

All: We had Matthew's neurologist appointment today. We really think he was planning to pigeon hole him. I don't think shocked really would describe the neurologist's position in the talks. He was besides himself with how good Matthew is doing and how well he is performing. We also go to see the ABR of his hearing. It was AMAZING well. He had the language of a 33 month child, up from 22 when we started. After the discussions, he wanted to cut him loose and did not see anything else to talk about. We kept an appoint for 1 year and we are keeping him on his meds till all the head banging is gone and we feel he does not need it. That should be a short time. This is a huge burden that has been eased, as we were really concerned with what we read in the neurologist's reports from the prior appointment. It seems Matthew has again, beat the monkey off his back and is stomping him to death! Go Matthew. After the appointment, which was really short we headed to look at some new glasses for him. He is getting to big for his old ones and this is something we needed to do. We looked at a lot of frames and narrowed them down to about 5 pair, but Matthew decided he wanted one pair. This is not the pair we would have picked, but he seems to really like them and since he has to wear them... In the coming week he will have new glasses that are more grown up and less a little kid. This is hard on us a bit, but who cares what we feel. We have family over this evening for birthdays and I am sure it will be a long day.

All: The kids told me HAPPY BIRTHDAY today which was the best present ever. We had fun playing and learned our ECI rep(Jackie) is expecting. You would think after seeing our mess she would have had 2nd thoughts. The dog headed to the construction site and played in the mud, so she got hosed in the yard. This will become important in a second. We are working with Jackie and she says' Outside' and that leads to a full rebellion about going out. We go out back and they find the house, well I forgot to de-pressure the hose and Nicholas sprayed me and Avery. We played for a while then went in for dinner and baths. Nicholas cut his finger and it had to have been scissors as he cut through the nail and the bottom of the finger. Blood everywhere. He loves Band-Aids so that is not too bad. I had to trim the nail back as it was just going to catch on something and he cried. He seems fine and chicks dig scars.

All: Today was one of the days, you hate as a parent. How many beatings did you do today? How often did you lose your cool? How many swear words was that? Why have they not broken the swear jar, since they have broken everything else? This leads me to what has happened. We are all getting sick now from what was brought home. Nicholas is getting better, but his cough is horrible. We are getting lunch ready and the kids decide to take out the dining room chairs from under the table that we have told them a billion times not to. I go in to find Avery pulling a chair with a broken arm. Yes, the darling little children, broke the arm off the end chair of the formal table. As they are in time out and we are trying to figure out what to do, we give up and decide to just put the chairs up to protect them. While we are doing this, we turn around to see them (all 4) swinging under the table. Picture this if you will, 4 kids hanging from the table top with their arms, bottoms swinging free, legs out in front of them, saying the words, 'Weeeeeee!' No shit really! Now that is not all folks, wait for it… The buzzer beeps on the oven and we think we are ok… Idiots that we must be. Kristen calls a friend and tells them what happened to be asked, 'Well, you did beat them with the arm of the chair right?' And I am getting the lunch ready. During this time, Nicholas takes the bag of Pizza goldfish crackers… Wait for it. We did not see him take them. He goes into the dining room under the table and pours them out onto the floor… Wait for it! They then proceed to jump on the crackers and crush them in to the carpet… At this point, they are belted into the booster seats and fed lunch. Then we get them up from naps and I take the kids outside to help Kristen get some laundry done. The 4 decided to jump on the pool cover and have a blast in the 59 degree water. Remember they are sick, don't forget that, it gets better. As they have filled the diapers with COLD pool water, I go to try and remove them. Now I have naked babies running amuck in the back yard naked as the day they were born. To which Matthew runs in the house to and is Furious he is naked and demands a diaper from Mommy. I look up while chasing the 3 to see someone looking at the house next door. I had get them back in the house and they get out a door I opened and are on the concrete area at the garage, naked don't forget, and the boys decided to have a peeing contest and proceeded to stomp on it when they were done. We wrangle them in the house and try for dinner and the door bell rings, our neighbor Mike brought some cupcakes for the kids. We are talking to him and it gets real quiet and we realize the kids went out the front door when we're not looking. Now, we have diapered and PJ kids running in the flower bed and sidewalks. We get them back in the house and you cannot image what they eat for dinner. They did not eat the goulash or bread sticks, but the vanilla pudding Kristen had made earlier for them they loved. Now that they are ready for baths and we have a treat for them bubble bath. Mr. Bubble has arrived. Avery and Nicholas loved it. Andrew and Matthew are Horrified and demand to know where is the water, 'Water, where Water!' Nicholas shows them by digging through the bubbles and really has fun with it. They decided that Nicholas is not kidding and start playing with the bubbles. A mess is not quite the word. Then we get them clean and I go to clean Matthews glasses and POP the screw comes out as I am adjusting them. Luckily, they go back together and all is well. Now time for bed and Hopefully we can shower and get the house cleaned up.

All: I have a lodge festival that I must attend and Kristen is left running the fort. I told her how I get them changed in the morning and how helpful they are and that they do the same routine every day. Nothing further from the truth could have happened. She opens the door and they run to all corners of the house. She did get them done, but a chase ensued and all was not easy. The day goes on and she has Avery on the changing table with a dirty diaper, Nicholas comes running by with Matthew's glasses and Matthew is going mental patient in the closet and hits the wall. This hit knocked out 5 nails in the sheetrock. So, what is she supposed to do when that happens? This is a rare event these days, we really done have much new banging from Matthew and his glasses really don't get taken except from Avery, which he allow. Not sure why they are so nice to each other. They have to be planning something. Now Matthew did get even at dinner with a nice bite to Nicholas and Andrew. The bite to Nicholas was bad, but Andrew must have bad Karma today. The full dental impression left on his arm of both the upper and lower teeth, did not just hurt... He was shaking for minutes before he could breathe, cry, yell or respond. Now, I would normally try to figure out what and why, but this time I have to say I am sure that somehow they wronged Matthew and he decided to resolve the issue to make a point. He did got quietly to time out and sat nicely until his time was done. This is what makes me believe it was resolution to something. I have noticed that if they are playing and go too far we get crying, as to say we are sorry or did not mean to. If they deliberately bite, hit, head butt, throw something at someone, etc. and do not cry going to time out it is a response to something the other one did. Because there is no crying or real remorse for that they did.
